The primary objective of the Student Retention Center (SRC) is to provide a vehicle for the retention of those students with the highest attrition rates. SRC’s first priority is to those students who are in academic difficulty and/or dismissed. Although SRC does target those communities with the lowest retention rates, they are open to all students of the university.
SRC aims to empower students with the tools and strategies necessary for their retention. Through fostering cooperation and collective learning, instead of competition, SRC aims to create a safe and positive environment for underrepresented students in the university. Some of the services provided by SRC include peer counseling, study hall, study groups, mentorship, class/professor evaluations, internships, and writing programs.
