About Me: |
Soy Mexicana, born and raised in Anaheim CA from immigrant parents. I am the second eldest in a family of four other siblings. I am a simple person who loves to stay home and cuddle up with my significant other and watch movies, spanish shows and anime!!! I also love to read and continue to expand my own knowledge, but sometimes find it hard to find the time to just read. Most people describe me as a motherly person, and I guess this is due to the fact that I started to take care of my younger siblings and cousins since I was 9-10 years old. I was fortunate enough to have met all four of my grandparents and had one recently pass away this past summer.
She was my namesake and someone I very much love and miss to this day. After graduating from UCSC I started working and
for the first time ever have been able to send money home every now and then to help my family out. I consider myself a friendly and approachable person so come visit me at eČ I am always there as this is my second home and family! |
How did you get involved with eČ? |
As a first year I was around when the Measure 10 campaign first ran and was won! I sat on the SUGB as the SUA intern trying to get the Redwood Building for the eČ center, helped make posters for the rallies and volunteer. Helping with the SOAR war rallies. Later on as the OD for SUA I worked with Amanda the co-Chair of eČ to help pass the CARE Measure Campaign and Measure 17 that would adjust the funding that was received by the center. My fourth year I got hired on to be the Program Coordinator working with Blanca Romero to put on events such as the Crisis in Higher Education Forum and the SIO Forum that year. Now as the Alumni I work full time for the center as their only full-time staff member compiling reports, helping with the daily operations of the office, supervising staff, and providing support for the programs that are affiliated with eČ. The reason I have been so involved with
eČ
is that I truly believe in the work that the center is doing by trying to create a different way that we see the educational system and trying to create a student population that is more politically conscious and able to make systematic changes in our society. |
| What would you give back to eČ after you leave? |
I hope that when I leave I can continue to give historical knowledge and guidance to the eČ space. |
